Dont just sit there Florrie!

Well, this is all very nice just sitting knitting and creating beautiful things, but the hedgerows will not be full of fruit for ever.
I've got the most perfect Cornish willow blackberry basket that when full makes several jars of sparkling garnet coloured jelly to line the larder shelves and see us through the winter. Then there are the rosehips, elder berries and fungi of all descriptions, all free for the picking. So it's time to pull on those boots and wrap up in thick autumn coloured layers and head for the lanes.

Things are begining to change

I'm so excited! Doing my usual tour of the garden in the early morning I noticed a distinct feel of Autumn, the big pink heads of the hydrangeas are beginning to deepen to that rich cerise that when brought indoors will last all winter.  A thin veil of smoke from a bonfire is drifting past the summer house and it is definately time for me to get out the bigger needles and chunky wool to create all those snuggly socks, gloves and shawls.  There is nothing better than an Autumn evening picnic with big mugs of pumpkin soup, as the light fades and the candles twinkle you can wrap warm layers of beautiful knitware around you and chat until the candles fade and it's time for bed.  What bliss!
